13Nov18: Happy Birthday to Me

Tuesday was my birthday. I did little beyond going to my volunteer shift, practicing my languages, and chatting on the phone with family who wanted to wish me a happy birthday.

30Oct18: Out All Day

I woke up at 04:30 on Tuesday and started my day half an hour later. I did my languages and my 250 words. Before leaving, I put a bunch of dry food in Hendrix’s bowl in case I couldn’t come back.

Due to anxiety over missing my appointment, I headed out to the VA around 07:30 or 08:00. Even though they processed me fairly quickly, I didn’t get to see my Oncologist until my appointed time. We discussed my plans for transitioning, and I requested she put an order in for my Anastrozole, which she did. When we finished, I went downstairs to pick it up.

During one of my bathroom breaks, my phone took a tumble that cracked the screen. So, on the way home, I stopped by the Sprint store that here downtown to see what my options were. After discussing things with a salesperson, I ran home really quick, cuddled my kitty (and checked his food), and grabbed my one credit card to pay for a new phone. Well, I’m on a contract with a payment plan. I just had to pay for the repairs they’d do to the phone and the new-phone fee, which required payment on the spot. So, about three hours and a frustrating failure to login to my email account later, I left the store with my new phone and went directly to my volunteer shift.

There’s some people outside the pride center collecting members for a medical research database, which I started the process on joining. Videos failed, and they said I could access their site on my own. I just need to come in for phlebotomist stuff on another day.

Volunteer shift went pretty well. I fiddled with my new phone. The Duolingo app is malfunctioning from the transfer, so I trashed it and will be downloading it again when the 24 hour period is over.

Kevin kindly drove me home, and I idled for a while on the computer, then went to bed after midnight.

9Oct18: Busy Busy Volunteer Shift

Tuesday got off to a bit of a rough start, but it went well afterward, with me attending my volunteer shift. I took my laptop and graph paper, but I didn’t get to do much work on anything because it was very busy last night. 7 groups in all, including a public safety persons meeting complete with fire trucks, food, and swag. I got a pic of myself with the firemen. Need to bug the public safety woman who took the pics to text or email them to me. Should had her use my camera.

When I got home, I did my languages and worked on UL. Finished off a scene. There’s more about that and other things on my Fool’s Errand site. Also scheduled a mini-painting session with Kit and rescheduled my mammogram. All in all, a good day!

Two Important Things

I had my volunteer shift, but I managed to get my writing done before midnight.

28Aug18: Long Tuesday Out

Safe sex is good sex!

Love Brand Condoms

Yesterday I had a long day out. Left my apartment around 11:30 to go to a psych doc appointment up at the VA. The appointment started a little late ’cause my doc was tangled in a phone call, but it was a good meeting. A few times in the past, we’ve discussed the possibility of adding a sleep aid to my medication regimen due to outside influences (like the 2016 presidential election cycle). Before, though, we decided to wait and see what would happen, and things always tapered off to the point where it was determined I didn’t necessarily need a sleep aid. This time was different. I’ve been having difficulty sleeping the past few months since I last saw my psych doc. Part of that is admittedly me sitting up with Daz, but that’s not every case, and I do try to sleep most nights. But for the past few months (even before meeting Daz), I’ve had difficulty sleeping two or three nights out of the week. I’ll either not get tired at all, or I’ll wake up after lying down. We’d discussed this the last time I saw my psych doc back in I think May, and we decided to wait and see how things would develop. So, the result was that things haven’t really changed, so my doc prescribed some Trazodone. I’ll be getting it n the mail within about 2 weeks.

After my appointment up at the VA, I went directly to the Pride Center. You know, I took my laptop, but I didn’t have its cord or peripherals. LOL It was another busy night there, with 5 or 6 groups meeting. Lots of people hung out in the lobby, and I chatted with them. I also did the condom bowl. LOL Because, really. Teens are going to have sex—maybe not all, but that’s not the point. My point is, denying things like condoms and to teens is just plain stupid. Preaching abstinence doesn’t work, people. It just doesn’t.

*steps down off of soapbox*

But have a picture of the pride center’s condom bowl anyway.

Quilting at Last!

Quilt Block.

You Go Girl Block 2!

My Tuesday was an exhaustion day due to digestive issues from something I ate. I got quite a bit done in the morning hours though. Did transit route research for a friend and then spent over an hour composing an email twice; we may be moving our MTG sessions to another store and one of my friends was having difficulties getting a decent itinerary from UTA’s Route Finder app. I also got pictures of Hendrix’s Rabies Certificate onto my computer and emailed that to County Animal Services. Also applied for a couple things on our local welfare office’s website which required me be on the phone for over an hour. Chatted with Mom too.

And then Katie picked me up for quilting. We stopped by the Amazon Lockers down the street to pick up a package that had been waiting for me., and also picked up some food and stuff at the 7-11 where the lockers are. We spent about three hours quilting. I made two blocks, one for my Kaleidoscope Quilt and one for the Quilt of the Month quilt she suggested I make.

Then she drove me to my volunteer shift and hung out there chatting with me and a few other friends there. Kevin drove me home and I hung out with Daz for a bit as well.

The Last Two Days of July

The last two days of July were pretty good.

On Monday, Mom came over briefly to drop some things off for me. After that, I was finally able to get together with Daz to discuss my Pathfinder character. Over the course of the afternoon, he also gave me access to his Netflix and Hulu accounts, which was nice of him. Trying to figure out what I’ll watch first. LOL

After that, he invited me to go with him to some friends’ for a game night, and I went. We arrived around 20:00, I think, and ended up spending the next 4 or so hours playing Cards Against Humanity, which was great fun. Afterward, we played Betrayal at House on the Hill.

When we finished, one of the hosts drove us home since transit wasn’t running. Daz and I hung out for a few more hours after getting home. He came up with some food, used some of my food, and made us a yummy supper. At around 07:00, he went to bed, and I stayed up ’cause I don’t sleep well if I get to sleep after dawn, and it turns me into a temperamental bitch. Really, though, I’m glad I’ve got the irritable version of hypomania. I’ve heard how a lot of the “I can do ANYTHING” mania causes people to stop taking their meds, and I don’t want to do that.

I did some work on my Pathfinder character’s backstory, filling in a good deal more detail on the way. Went to my volunteer shift, too. Daz invited me to game with another friend of his because his role gaming group canceled due to a member or two not being able to make it, which was nice, but I had to decline.

Got home at about 21:30 and went right to bed after feeding my cat.

Pathfinder and Schedule Changes

My Character is the white figure.

The False Crypt.

I made a conscious decision not to post yesterday. Last night, I was mentally weary from the day I’d had and couldn’t really organize my thoughts very well outside of random conversation. Writing a blog post that was supposed to make sense and not randomly hop form topic to topic was out of the question.

So, for Wednesday.

Around 09:00, I got up. In part because I simply couldn’t sleep any more, but mostly because I’d seen a call from Steve, who owned the mattress and box springs, come in. I had my phone off, so it didn’t ring, but I happened to glance at it when his call came in, and after that, I was anxious enough that I couldn’t sleep any longer.

I got up, called Steve and left a message when he didn’t answer, and called to tell Mom that he’d called. While she and I were on the phone, he called back, and Mom hung up. Long story short, Steve was happy not only to sell me his bed, but also to bring it over for me. He even took my old mattress. He was asking $25.00. Mom suggested I talk him down to $20.00. After all that help, I didn’t have the heart to talk him down and gave him the $30.00 I had on me for his trouble. He was very glad to get the money, as he’s moving to be near his kids in another state.

Then I had breakfast and headed up to the VA for my psych therapy appt. It was good, and didn’t jar me too much, so I went right to Oasis Games after that for my early evening of Magic: The Gathering with JJ and Cayden. Greg texted me that he wouldn’t be able to make it ’cause his contacts were causing him issues and he was having difficulty seeing as a result. Cayden and JJ arrived, and we played MTG, including our young friend in it until his mom came to drag him away to some church event. We realized he’d left a box with one of his desks behind, and I took the box up to the store’s primary sale point and texted Carma that I’d done so she texted back that she’d pick it up.

At one point over the course of the 2 hours we played MTG, I went to purchase a new cardboard card box and some perfect fit sleeves for my Feline Ferocity Commander deck and ran into a friend from Lynn’s D&D group, Daz. He’s been running a Pathfinder game with Phil, Dan, Dave, and Kit for a few weeks, and he invited me to join. I said I’d have to see about rearranging my schedule and went to talk to Cayden and JJ about gaming earlier. I didn’t get a chance to suggest the change to our Wednesday MTG games to Greg until later.

I arrived late to the Pathfinder game, and Daz interrupted it to create my character. He asked a bunch of questions about how I saw the character and made suggestions. I told him I wanted to challenge myself with playing a support character who doesn’t always get into the fray. He asked me, “If there was one thing your character could have, even from our modern world, what would it be?” And I said something like, “Well, something she could do research on” and that got us on a discussion about her Googling stuff. LOL That’s how I ended up with a Tengu Oracle.

After the Pathfinder game, I helped Daz clean up. He lives in my building, and we walked home together. On the way, we chatted about our lives and such, and he told me he lives in the same apartment I lived in the first time I moved into this building. When he heard I lived just around the corner one floor up, he asked if he could use my wifi and offered to pay. I waived his offer of payment and told him I’d get him my wifi’s name and password when we got home. When I did that, we ended up commencing an exchange of emails about Pathfinder, the adventure he’s leading us on, and my character.

I didn’t get to bed until after midnight, and I was very glad I’d made my bed after getting the new setup that morning.

So, for Thursday.

This is much simpler and shorter.

I got up after noon, contacted Kevin to pick me up, and hung out with him from the beginning of his shift until group started. I learned some nice things in group and made a big decision I’ve been stalling on for a while. More on that as I get to executing it. Kevin kindly drove me home. I had supper and just finished emailing Daz my character’s entire backstory after giving her a new first name (I didn’t like the placeholder name he gave her).

Not only that, over the course of the day, I finished rearrangement of our Wednesday gaming schedule, rescheduled 2 appointments for next month, and finished moving Saturday sessions with MLTGF and Greg to Tuesday afternoons.

And that’s it for the past two days!

Two Days Here

I didn’t do much besides try to work on D&D prep stuff on Monday. Didn’t even do my languages. Went to bed pretty early by my standards, too. I think I hit the sack by 22:15.

Tuesday wasn’t much more active, though I did get out to my volunteer shift. I packed my D&D prep stuff and Kevin picked me up at my request. We stopped at the post office to pick up pride center snailmail, then we went to the pride center. While I was there, I reapplied as a volunteer at the request of the new volunteer coordinator, learned about the volunteer site we have to keep track of our hours and all, and assisted a bunch of people between working on D&D prep work. I took my computer so I was able to get online and my friends on Writing Groove helped me figure some things out (thanks, Zette, and Jam!).

Got home a little after nine and fed the cat, and I’ve been idling since then. Did download GIMP and play with it a little bit. Also put a couple books about GIMP on an Amazon wishlist to research later when I’m feeling more analytical. Oh, and before I went to my volunteer shift, I did both my languages! And I also left a message on the work voicemail for the lawyer Anita referred me to for my VA claims stuff.

No Aviary Visit

Hendrix with D&D books.

Imma read ur D&D books. Upside-down, even!

I pulled myself out of bed by 09:00 this morning so that I’d have enough time to prepare to go to the Tracy Aviary with my friend JJ. Sadly, he had not responded to any of my contacts since Tuesday, and I was already concerned about his silence after he messaged on MeWe that he was at a hospital on Tuesday. He didn’t respond to my texts or phone calls this morning either. I tried calling the hospital to see if he was an inpatient, and they said they had nobody by his last name there. Also notified Kit that I hadn’t heard from JJ for a couple days since that mysterious and troubling message he left on MeWe on Tuesday.

After I realized we wouldn’t be meeting today at all, and that he wasn’t going to respond, I went and laid down to get over the the stress of JJ’s lack of communication. I think I even managed to sleep a little. This was good, because I hadn’t slept well last night, and that probably wasn’t helping the stress factor.

Since there was nothing I could do to get a response from JJ at present, I packed up some D&D stuff to take to the Pride Center with me. I’d already gotten an agreement from Kevin on Wednesday that he’d drive me home if I came and hung out with him before the support group I wanted to go to. So that was what I did, while working on D&D stuff. Happily, I got all the must-do stuff done and have since been working on something purely fun for me (and hopefully my players).

When I got home, I fed my cat and then quickly called Mom, who’d left a message while I was at the Pride Center. I convinced her not to spend money she didn’t need to spend on something for me that I don’t really need. Tried contacting JJ again too, but no response to my message, so I emailed him. Did my languages on Duolingo, a teensy bit of work on one of my wips, had supper, and took some pics of Hendrix. I’ve posted the most amusing of them above. LOL
