Wednesday was a very productive day, and I’m saying that even though I took a 2 hour nap in the early afternoon. I had an appointment at 13:00, that I left for around 11:00 after doing my morning routine and calling Mom. Even though I arrived an hour early for the appointment, they got me in right away—basically, I walked in the door, and was shown directly to the room where my hearing test was to be conducted. I swear the booth I got shut in was just the same as those they brought to my elementary school for hearing tests when I was a kid. LOL
Right after I got home, I took the nap. Basically, walked in, turned on the computer for music, and conked out on the sofa with Hendrix curled up behind my knees. It was a great nap, and I felt much better when I got up.
Made a second call to Mom to tell her how my outing went, then proceeded to idle away a couple more hours. I finally buckled down around 18:30 or so, and I accomplished quite a bit!
– D&D prep in the form of updating and revising a deity synopsis (which wasn’t on my task list for the day).
– Got my 250 words for my Fool’s Errand goal.
– Did a tarot card for the first time this week.
– Read through a chapter and followed the instructions for manipulating an image in GIMP using GIMP for Absolute Beginners.
– Practiced all three of my languages.
– And got around to doing my All of Us (the medical research database thing) consent stuff (which also wasn’t on my list).
The only thing I didn’t actually get done off my list was crocheting, and that’s because doing that requires shutting Hendrix into my bedroom so he doesn’t get into my yarn, because I felt bad for leaving him alone all day Tuesday and part of Wednesday. I gave him lots of cuddles too, whenever he hopped onto me over the course of the evening.
All in all, an excellent day!
I woke up at 04:30 on Tuesday and started my day half an hour later. I did my languages and my 250 words. Before leaving, I put a bunch of dry food in Hendrix’s bowl in case I couldn’t come back.
Due to anxiety over missing my appointment, I headed out to the VA around 07:30 or 08:00. Even though they processed me fairly quickly, I didn’t get to see my Oncologist until my appointed time. We discussed my plans for transitioning, and I requested she put an order in for my Anastrozole, which she did. When we finished, I went downstairs to pick it up.
During one of my bathroom breaks, my phone took a tumble that cracked the screen. So, on the way home, I stopped by the Sprint store that here downtown to see what my options were. After discussing things with a salesperson, I ran home really quick, cuddled my kitty (and checked his food), and grabbed my one credit card to pay for a new phone. Well, I’m on a contract with a payment plan. I just had to pay for the repairs they’d do to the phone and the new-phone fee, which required payment on the spot. So, about three hours and a frustrating failure to login to my email account later, I left the store with my new phone and went directly to my volunteer shift.
There’s some people outside the pride center collecting members for a medical research database, which I started the process on joining. Videos failed, and they said I could access their site on my own. I just need to come in for phlebotomist stuff on another day.
Volunteer shift went pretty well. I fiddled with my new phone. The Duolingo app is malfunctioning from the transfer, so I trashed it and will be downloading it again when the 24 hour period is over.
Kevin kindly drove me home, and I idled for a while on the computer, then went to bed after midnight.
For all the sleep I got Sunday night, I was still tired and draggy Monday. I even canceled the quilting session I’d planned with my friend Katie, and I didn’t get out of bed until almost 13:30. However, I did manage to get my 250 words and do my languages. Also exercised my right to vote, started the process of coordinating a grocery trip with one of my friends, and sent out an email announcing to the Wednesday Pathfinder group that the game is on hiatus until further notice. Then I went to bed around 18:30.
I got a whopping 5 hours sleep Saturday night, so I was still tired when I got up Sunday. Much as I wanted to sleep until 10:00 or 11:00, I couldn’t, because water was being shut off for repairs around 10:00 and I didn’t want to be home during any time it was off, so I headed to Oasis at around 09:55.
So I did Lynn’s D&D, and I canceled Movie night ’cause Daz was too tired to join. I got my languages done, but did little else. Mostly idled away the hours, even after I took a 2 hour nap after arriving home. Went to bed a little after 01:00.
I didn’t get nearly as much done on Saturday as I intended. Well, not of intended tasks. Did get my languages done and posted here. Also chatted with my friend Katie and arranged to go quilting at her place on Monday. Chatted with Mom twice on the phone and had her over for a visit as well.
But I spent most of the day working on 2 projects: Masks, and the first book of my Masters of the Schism series. It felt good to dig into Masks, but even better to work on MOTS1. An epiphany hit, and I sorted out the first several chapters of scenes because I now know what to do with book 1. Before, I had no idea how to end the plot threads to either (seemingly unrelated) storyline.
So there it is! a productive day working on long-incomplete WIPs!
Friday was a surprisingly good day. I didn’t expect to get done with as much as I did.
The day’s biggest event was a trip to the Tracy Aviary here in town. My friend JJ volunteers there, and he was able to get me in for free, and since he knows about the birds, he told me about them all. It was a great experience, and I feel privileged to know someone who’s so knowledgeable about the aviary and its denizens. Most of the birds there are rescues or were bred in captivity, which makes them vulnerable if left in the wild. There were also some wild birds there. I meant to take pictures, but I forgot to after getting a pic of a sign on the corner of the little nature reserve. We rode the bus downtown together, and I waited with JJ for the train to pick him up on main Street, then finished my own trip home by walking.
In addition to the Aviary visit, I got a number of tasks completed yesterday—more than I expected with thbie visit to the aviary. I chatted with Mom to arrange for her to visit me, posted Friday’s prompt on my group on MeWe, posted Chapter Eight of Measure of Resistance to Wattpad, wrote up a Fool’s Errand blog article and posted it, did both my languages, took a nap, and got my 250 words.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to get to the writing, which I made clear in my FE post. The hour nap was necessary because I was feeling left of center and my knees’ pain had climbed to excruciating levels with all the walking I did. While I finally broke my step goal for the first time since, I think, making the goal, I really needed to get off my legs for a while, and sitting wasn’t cutting it. The pain was so bad, I couldn’t even feel if my feet hurt as well. To prevent my knees from stiffening up, I flexed them until I dozed off, then when I woke up, flexed them some more before getting up.
But it was a good day yesterday! Despite the pain, I really enjoyed my aviary visit, and I had fun spending time with one of my friends I don’t get to see often enough.
Thursday was a productive day despite being an exhaustion day. I didn’t make it to gaming with my friends, because I was in on condition for being out in public. However, before I went to bed, I finished up my Wednesday Pathfinder character sheet with my friend Daz and reread Trish’s Character Background Questionnaire and wrote up some notes and questions for her to answer about her character. Sleep didn’t really happen, so I canceled my attendance at game around 10:00 and tried sleeping some more. After I got a little more rest, so I sent the Questionnaire to Dan and the further questions and notes to Trish. I also entered my Pathfinder character sheet into Myth Weavers, did my languages, posted here, straightened up my living room, put my gaming stuff away, and got my 250 words, not necessarily in that order. Wanted to do more, but got zoney toward the evening. Was in bed before 21:00.
I didn’t get much done Wednesday, but even with that, I did get more done than I expected. Since I got up around noon, I thought the day would be one of those when I didn’t work on my writing at all. I chatted with Mom briefly about an appointment for my VA claim evaluation. Did a tarot card. Played MTG and did languages. Unfortunately, Kit couldn’t make it to Pathfinder last night due to working late and Kaydan opted out of it as well. This prompted discussion of possibly postponing Pathfinder until at least Kit can return, because he’s playing our toughest hitter, a monk. Most everyone else is playing a support character. Since I’d had enough of MTG, I hung around a little after Dan, Dave, and Phil arrived, but not for very long. I left Daz playing MTG with them in lieu of Pathfinder—luckily everyone had brought MTG decks. Oh, I did happen to hear from one of the employees of Demolition Games that MTG was developed specifically to pass the time while waiting to play D&D, which was interesting—that’s supposedly why there’s so many things referencing D&D elements in MTG. Anyway, I came home and wrote 250 words, found another evaluation appointment email and forwarded it to Mom like I’d done the other one, and basically waited for Daz to come home. We made a cooperative meal and then spent some time working on my Pathfinder character’s new character sheet, which I’d done absolutely no work on due to completely forgetting about it. So, yeah, in a way, it was a good thing we didn’t play Pathfinder last night.
I didn’t get any sleep Monday night, but I managed to make Tuesday really productive. Sent out Wednesday gaming emails, did 2 tarot cards, practiced my languages, set up 14 more tarot cards for lessons, did my volunteer shift, helped a friend work up a budget for November, crocheted for maybe an hour or two, did a survey for the clinic where I had my mammogram, finalized names for a couple characters for a project I’ve been taking notes on, and did my 250 words. So, a great day!
Monday night game was canceled pretty early in the afternoon because Christian and Steffanie, the hosts, were going to a play instead. Over the rest of the afternoon, I chatted with Mom, got my AEP post up here, neatened my living room from Sunday’s grocery trip (picked up all the reusable grocery bags). At some point, Varick contacted me about holding Movie Night that night since we hadn’t been able to meet on Sunday, and I agreed. So Varick came to my place, and I did my languages before we met with Daz, and we all headed up to Smith’s to get the makings for a fancy hearty ramen meal before we settled in for the movie. It was all yummy, and I couldn’t even finish my entire bowl, so Daz and Varick split it between them. After that, we settled in to watch Iron Man, which was an incredibly fun ride. We put the house in order before Daz and Varick left after the movie, and I settled in to meet my writing goal. Instead of 250 words, I did another plot card on Unwritten Letters since I’d finished writing out the last plot card.
