15Nov18: Slow Day

I didn’t get much done Thursday. Lack of motivation got me. Did go to gaming with my longtime gaming friends, got a plot card on Unwritten Letters, and chatted with Mom. Aside from those things, nothing else.

24Oct18: No Pathfinder

I didn’t get much done Wednesday, but even with that, I did get more done than I expected. Since I got up around noon, I thought the day would be one of those when I didn’t work on my writing at all. I chatted with Mom briefly about an appointment for my VA claim evaluation. Did a tarot card. Played MTG and did languages. Unfortunately, Kit couldn’t make it to Pathfinder last night due to working late and Kaydan opted out of it as well. This prompted discussion of possibly postponing Pathfinder until at least Kit can return, because he’s playing our toughest hitter, a monk. Most everyone else is playing a support character. Since I’d had enough of MTG, I hung around a little after Dan, Dave, and Phil arrived, but not for very long. I left Daz playing MTG with them in lieu of Pathfinder—luckily everyone had brought MTG decks. Oh, I did happen to hear from one of the employees of Demolition Games that MTG was developed specifically to pass the time while waiting to play D&D, which was interesting—that’s supposedly why there’s so many things referencing D&D elements in MTG. Anyway, I came home and wrote 250 words, found another evaluation appointment email and forwarded it to Mom like I’d done the other one, and basically waited for Daz to come home. We made a cooperative meal and then spent some time working on my Pathfinder character’s new character sheet, which I’d done absolutely no work on due to completely forgetting about it. So, yeah, in a way, it was a good thing we didn’t play Pathfinder last night.

16-17Oct18: Another Day Missed!

I was away from my computer yesterday, and I don’t have the ability to update my blog from any device except my desktop computer at home, so here I am at 04:00 or so on Thursday updating for two days again. And a look in my “bullet journal” shows me I recorded absolutely nothing I did on the 16th. Well! Let me see what I can recall.

First, did I get anything from my list done on Tuesday?

I went to my volunteer shift. Got my 250 words. Did my languages and AEP post.

Got to bed around 01:00, if I remember right. After about an hour, I slept like crap for about 2 hours, then laid in bed awake with my eyes closed for another 3 or so, for a total of 6+ hours of bed time for little result. Oh, well.

Rose at around 07:00, I think. Was back in bed after most of my morning routine at 08:00. Got up at 10:00 with intent to finish entering my Wednesday Pathfinder character’s info into the online character sheet and took an hour nap on the sofa instead, then moved back into my bedroom for better sleep until 13:00 or so. Finally had breakfast, then laid down for another hour or so before dragging myself out of bed to go to Demolition Games.

There, I played MTG with Kaydan and Greg. Daz showed up later, and he played a round with them while I suffered under a horrendous tension pull headache. After that, Greg offered to get me some ibuprofen at a nearby convenience store and I accepted the offer. At about the same time he came back with the medicine, Phil, Dan, and Dave showed up for Pathfinder. That we played until around 20:30, when Kaydan couldn’t take the noise out in the main part of the store any longer and departed. Daz summarized the remainder of our in-game activities, then we chatted for a bit as we took our time packing up to leave.

Came home. I went downstairs to Daz’s apartment and helped him with is dishes and cooking up something to eat, then we watched a movie on Vudu.

11-12Oct 18: Missed a Day

Didn’t mean to miss posting about Thursday, but I had and exhaustion day Friday, and I usually write and post my updates the day after the day they’re about.

Honestly, I didn’t get much done Thursday. I did do my languages, and I went to MTG with my friends from the Shepherd family and Greg. I also took a 2+ hour nap, which is what threw me off for the night, especially since the nap happened after 17:00.

Friday was mostly a bust. After getting up to the VA to pick up some meds I’d forgotten to put in an online order for, I kind of zoned the rest of the day. Tried napping around noon without success, and hit the sack shortly after full darkness fell—by 19:30.

Not my best day by a long shot. LOL

A Bit Disappointing

(This post was moved to this site on 19 November 2018.)

Considering where I was on the 10th when I posted my last blog here, I had hope of getting more done over the remainder of the week. That, unfortunately, didn’t happen.

I’d really hoped to get a bit more writing in from the 10th-13th, but I think the only days I managed were Thursday and Saturday. Not really sure, I just know I didn’t meet my own expectations over the past few days. Because of a nap I took late Thursday afternoon (starting around 17:00), that lasted a little about 2.75 hours, I didn’t sleep that night. As a result of this, I had an exhaustion day on Friday, and was not productive at all. Beyond going to the VA to pick up a medication I needed a refill on in the morning, nothing really productive got done.

The most productive I actually got was in reading through what I had of TPOV2 and trying to make progress on it. I think I also managed to get some more ideas for DH04, which was good. Aside from those things, nothing else.

So, a disappointing week overall.

I intend to make some progress this next week, which is going to be a bit busier than last week. The difference is that I’m feeling motivated about the week, and when I feel motivated, things tend to get done. Honestly, I wasn’t feeling motivated last week, and I can’t really explain why, outside of possibly a bit of depression. Instead of writing, I did more houseworky things, which is odd in and of itself, but I felt then and feel now it was just procrastination on what the writing. The houseworky stuff would have gotten done anyway, but for some reason, when I wasn’t suffering exhaustion, I was in cleaning mode, and I let that distract me from my writing.

One thing I intend to do this week is take my laptop with me to Demolition Games so if people don’t show up to play Magic: The Gathering, I can work on my writing goal that day if I don’t get it done before going. Another thing I plan on is getting to bed by 01:00 each night; that’s an hour past my preferred bedtime, but I’m giving myself some time to argue myself into taking my night meds and hit the sack. Week after this, I intend to cut that hour out and go to bed by midnight—and No More Naps! Also, if I’m still awake after 2 hours, I’ll be taking one of my Trazodone to help knock myself out. I don’t want to sleep past 10:00 any morning this week.

So that’s where things stand, and the plans I have to get myself back into my writing goals.

10Oct18: Productive Wednesday

Wednesday was wildly productive for a day that I spent most of away from home. Part of it was getting stuff done in the wee hours before going to bed. I actually edited 3 chapters of DH03 and wrote my Fool’s Errand post before going to bed.

After I slept, I wrote yesterday’s AEP post, a plot card for UL, and practiced my languages. Went to play MTG and Pathfinder, but nobody showed up for MTG. Had a good Pathfinder session, though. I think I also chatted with my mom on the phone. All in all, a good day!

4Oct18: More Done than it Seemed

Thursday seemed like a lazy day, but I actually got more than I thought done. Looking at my list of tasks accomplished, I have the following:

Read a free article on the business of writing
Did my Languages
Turned in my rent check, Hendrix’s Rabies vax proof, and a note about the trash room on my floor
Played MTG
Wrote my 250 words
Had a long chat with my mom
Helped my friend Greg get his Farepay card for transit, and set up his online account for it
Recorded things in my not-a-bullet-journal
Wrote the AEP update for the 3rd and posted it
And got to bed at a decent hour

Pretty good, I’d say.

3Oct18: Not Much Done

Most I got done yesterday was coordinating for groceries, chatting with my mom, and doing Duolingo. No writing. I spent most of the day sleeping ’cause I hadn’t gotten enough in the morning. Would have gamed, but it was all canceled due to issues with the Trax from a power surge that set a car on far (right next to my building) the night before

22-24Aug18: Catch-Up

I had a busy day Wednesday (22nd). I had to go to the VA for an appointment and other things. Also had gaming to do. Didn’t do MTG, ’cause I got out of the VA too late to do it, but I did do Pathfinder.

Thursday was an exhaustion day. Put myself to bed but couldn’t sleep. Was productive, though I can’t remember everything I did. Worked on D&D stuff. Also did the day’s D&D session, introducing Daz’s character. Came home, read incomplete wips, then went to bed.

Did nothing on Friday. Got up, ate breakfast, took nap, had some more food, went to bed. Was still tired from Thursday, I guess.

15Aug18: We’ve Moved Pathfinder!

Nur Li Rashayda’s Stats and Dice.

I honestly didn’t want to get out of bed yesterday. Just wanted to sleep. Not because of depression. I hadn’t slept long enough, but I had to be at Oasis by 15:30 to meet with friends to discuss moving our Wednesday MTG meet to another location.

Since I didn’t expect to be able to play MTG, I didn’t pack any cards with my gaming stuff. Daz and I walked to Oasis together and we settled in a room just before JJ arrived. Cayden had an appointment, so couldn’t make it, and Greg never responded to my invite for him to join us—I think beacuse I was using the wrong number for him, as he had notified me that he did have a new phone and number. JJ, Daz, and I discussed the possibility of moving MTG to Demolition Games, then Daz and JJ played a couple rounds of MTG with Daz coaching JJ a bit. Me, I was sleeving some more MTG cards I’d gotten so I could possibly play with them, but our session ended before I got a chance.

By this time, Kit, who was meeting us for our trip to Demolition Games for Pathfinder, had found us in the private room after spending an hour waiting for us in the main part of the store. He texted Daz, so I had no idea where he was, because Daz was focused on playing and didn’t check his phone. JJ left to go home, then Kit, Daz, and I stopped at 7-Eleven for some food and beverages, then we headed to Demolition Games together. This was Kit’s first trip on the trax.

We arrived late for our 18:00 meeting for Pathfinder, but before Dan, Dave, and Phil gave up waiting and left. The lot of us climbed the stairs to the loft in the back and grabbed the last available table. Cayden showed up late because they thought the session was canceled due to the ovrwhelming number of messages discussing the Pathfinder move the day/evening before. We gamed until about 21:45 or so, when we came to a good place to end and I suggested packing up early ’cause I needed to go to the restroom and me on crutches with those stairs was not going to happen in an amount of time that would enable us to finish the confrontation we’d just rolled initiative for when I got back.

All of us walked back to the Trax station together. Cayden, Dan, Dave, and Phil went south, and Daz, Kit, and I went north. Daz and I hung out with Kit until his brother picked him up, then walked home and hung out for a while. I meant to do some D&D prep, but got sidetracked into discussing a possible character for Daz if he’s able to join my D&D campaign. Worked on that until around 03:00, then he went home to bed, and I laid down as well.
