I got maybe half of the things on my Task List done Monday, if that, but I had some fun distractions. Two things that weren’t on my list but which I did were chatting with Mom because she called, and going to Hero Forge to order my Nosedrool mini with the birthday money Mom gave me for my birthday. I also paid Kit to paint the mini.
From my list, I did my languages, sent out the announcement for Kit’s D&D, read, and contacted Ross to coordinate groceries.
And I finally got to attend Game Night at Christian’s. Had a great time. We played three rounds of Boss Monster. One round we learned the game, the second round we played by the rules, and the third round we played by a couple of variant rules. I lost all three rounds, but had a lot of fun, and I actually managed to improve my “score” with each session.
So all in all, a good day!
Sunday was pretty productive despite me not sleeping the night before. I didn’t get tired, so I didn’t put myself to bed. Over the course of the morning, I read a bit, did my languages, got my 250 words, and sorted my pills. Also sent out the Wednesday MTG announcement and called Mom.
I almost didn’t go to game, but I went anyway. Lynn wasn’t able to do D&D this week ’cause he had something else going on, so Kit ran a one-off game called Honey Heist. In this game, participants play either a bear or a honey badger. The goal is to steal a bunch of honey. It was hilarious. I played an unhinged black bear who was a thief with advantage in climbing named Justin Bearber. All I knew was my bear’s name prior to play, because we players had to come up with that. Everything else was rolled up, from type of bear to role played in the game. My exhaustion actually added to my play in this game, as I played my bear with a bit of flamboyance. We successfully finished the game in about three hours.
Having decided after Honey Heist that we would do movie night, Daz and I went to Smith’s to pick up some food and then came home. Varick joined us and we had sushi before starting up Iron Man 2. After that, they left, and I read an incomplete wip or two and then hit the sack.
I didn’t get much done Wednesday, but even with that, I did get more done than I expected. Since I got up around noon, I thought the day would be one of those when I didn’t work on my writing at all. I chatted with Mom briefly about an appointment for my VA claim evaluation. Did a tarot card. Played MTG and did languages. Unfortunately, Kit couldn’t make it to Pathfinder last night due to working late and Kaydan opted out of it as well. This prompted discussion of possibly postponing Pathfinder until at least Kit can return, because he’s playing our toughest hitter, a monk. Most everyone else is playing a support character. Since I’d had enough of MTG, I hung around a little after Dan, Dave, and Phil arrived, but not for very long. I left Daz playing MTG with them in lieu of Pathfinder—luckily everyone had brought MTG decks. Oh, I did happen to hear from one of the employees of Demolition Games that MTG was developed specifically to pass the time while waiting to play D&D, which was interesting—that’s supposedly why there’s so many things referencing D&D elements in MTG. Anyway, I came home and wrote 250 words, found another evaluation appointment email and forwarded it to Mom like I’d done the other one, and basically waited for Daz to come home. We made a cooperative meal and then spent some time working on my Pathfinder character’s new character sheet, which I’d done absolutely no work on due to completely forgetting about it. So, yeah, in a way, it was a good thing we didn’t play Pathfinder last night.
It was a good Monday, I think. Went to Kit’s D&D at Oasis Games, then came home with Kit and had Daz and Varick over for some social time. Kit and Daz worked on Kit’s character sheet for the Saturday Game Daz wants to get going eventually, and Varick and I chatted while frozen pizzas baked. Got my languages and 250 words after they left too.
Yesterday started with me rising at 10:30. It was a pretty productive day. I chatted with my mom and my friend Anita. Got my 250 words, posted DH03CH06 to Wattpad, and wrote a Fool’s Errand post. Also took a nap, updated DH02’s and DH03’s covers on Wattpad, prepped my beverages for Lynn’s D&D, listed my week’s goals on FM, kept up with my daily journal (my not-a-bullet-journal), and took a nap—which threw off my circadian rhythm again. The only unhappy thing was having to cancel painting minis with Kit. He wasn’t feeling well and had to go to an apartment viewing and didn’t think he’d be capable of meeting with me due to his cold. I told him to take care of himself and proceeded to make my day productive in other ways.
Tuesday got off to a bit of a rough start, but it went well afterward, with me attending my volunteer shift. I took my laptop and graph paper, but I didn’t get to do much work on anything because it was very busy last night. 7 groups in all, including a public safety persons meeting complete with fire trucks, food, and swag. I got a pic of myself with the firemen. Need to bug the public safety woman who took the pics to text or email them to me. Should had her use my camera.
When I got home, I did my languages and worked on UL. Finished off a scene. There’s more about that and other things on my Fool’s Errand site. Also scheduled a mini-painting session with Kit and rescheduled my mammogram. All in all, a good day!
Sunday started with a trip to get groceries with my friend Ross. After that, Lynn’s D&D from noon until 16:00; pretty much everyone else in the group finally leveled up after we discovered some major discrepancies in XP. Varick joined me, Daz, and Kit for a chat at Oasis while waiting for Kit’s ride, then the rest of us came back home. I got my Duolingo lessons in while Daz and Varick stopped at Daz’s place to drop off Daz’s gaming things. I wanted to write, but had no time.
But we finally got a movie night in!
It took us three weeks to find a site that offered the first Captain America movie, not to mention cancellations for a couple of other reasons. It was good to sit down with Daz and Varick to watch the movie we’d been looking forward to seeing for so long. Afterward, we sat chatting for a bit, petting and playing with Hendrix. I hated to see them go, but Varick had to start home so he wouldn’t miss the last train. After going to see him off and checking on Inara, Daz came back up and we made a cooperative meal and watched Little Shop of Horrors, which he had not seen before. We had some good laughs over how corny and campy the movie is, then Daz skedaddled after because he wanted to get some sleep.
So, all in all, a good day!
Lights flash in here to see how good my field of vision is.
I spent Friday up at the VA because I had two appointments up there, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The day up there started fairly early, because I got a ride from a friend who was kind enough to drive me ’cause I wasn’t sure just how transit was running.
After breakfast up there, I went to my therapy appt, the first one I had yesterday. This went pretty well. Over the course of it, I mentioned having an optometry appointment, and my therapist checked on her computer and told me it had been canceled by patient the day before. Though I tried calling, nobody answered, so I said I’d run up there as soon as I got out of my therapy appointment.
Which was what I did. Turns out, the original appointment was still available, so I reclaimed that slot and went to have lunch. Also got my flu shot. Got up to my optometry appointment about an hour early, but they got me in early too. I had to take a visual field test and have an exam to determine how I’m doing on my eye drops for the glaucoma. The pic at the top of this post is a view into the machine that does the vision field test.
Got my languages done while waiting for the train to take me home.
Came home, laid down for a while to recharge, then went out to a club with some friends. This was the first time I’ve done this in a long time, and my experiences before left much to be desired, so I was a bit nervous. When Lynn, Dan, and I arrived at the Sun Trapp, two other friends of mine greeted us from a nearby table. Unfortunately, Dan’s ID was expired by about a month, and there are hefty fines for bars that let people in with an expired ID, so Lynn had to drive him home. Since Garth and Louis were there, I went over and hung out with them while Lynn did that. It didn’t take Lynn very long, and shortly after he returned, Kit joined us. We had a good time, and I’m glad I went. It was worth all the anxiety I suffered.
I made it to Sunday’s D&D session, but didn’t do much else. Hung out for a bit with Kit after the game. Read through some wips when I got home. Tried to hand-sew another dice pouch without success. An okay day.
I got out of bed at around 12:25 Friday. Really needed the sleep, though, because I’d been running on not enough of it most of the week. Didn’t do much. Made some phone calls; opened up a stalled wip to try reading through; carried on an online chat with Kit; worked a bit on my Pathfinder character’s backstory with Daz via email and text. That was about it.
